Al Mason was born and schooled
under the long white cloud (Aotearoa). He left New Zealand in 1974,
spending the next four years on the theory that every penny earned
must must be spent on the move, having a good time so somewhere
around the world.
Finally Al chose Perth W.A.,
as a base to get a real job, back in the building game. This line
of work took Al further and further up the west coast and eventually
the Kimberley, In 1980 he visited Kununurra for a weekend, and he's
still here. (They say if you drink the water from the Ord, you will
always return). Someone must have mixed Ord water with his bourbon.

In 1989 Al
married S.A. born Sharon and they bought a property on the Ord,
where they now live with their three children. They have spent the
next 16 years growing bananas, papaya, mangoes and children. Recently
Al and Sharon bought Just Framed, which Sharon operates, whilst
Al spends his time between, farming, framing, children and art.
Al started with the Kimberley
school of Art in 2000 and graduated in 2005. The farm life inspires
him, and his love of the Kimberley keeps him painting and drawing.
Al uses pencil, ink and oils to capture the Kimberley, and he paints
on a variety of materials. (ie. Wood-burnings, mini-orb, paper,
rusty iron, canvas and walls!!!)
